Tuesday, December 23rd, 2014

We thank all our USMA Families and Guests for attending our Annual Holiday Party filled with International Food and a special visit from Santa!

We thank Mrs. Chung for making such delicious food. Thank you to Mr. Franck, Mr. John, Mrs. Thuy, and Master Maria for helping to set up and maintain arrangements.

We thank Master Maria and Miss Patricia for keeping the children occupied until Santa made his grand appearance.

Santa was very happy with our kids, and he made a speech on how he hoped they continued to do their best as they have been doing year round. The families had an opportunity to have pictures with Santa and everyone had a great time!

This is our last event for the year, we thank you for your year round support! We will be closed tomorrow for the Winter Break until January 5, 2015 at 5:30pm! See you then! Enjoy your holidays!

Recap of the Belt Presentation and Black Belt Tea Ceremony

Saturday, December 20th, 2014

We would like to congratulate everyone who received their belts today, and also to our Black Belts who have joined our Black Belt Ranks, or who those who are moving closer to becoming Masters. During our Belt Presentation the students received not only their belt but also a special Memorabilia pen of our 30th Years of our U.S. Martial Arts Academy being open. We have been around a long time and wanted to give a symbol from our family to theirs.

Our Master Maria did a double nunchuk demonstration in honor of all the students who tested and wishes their continued success.

Congratulations to Mr. John Joyce on his concrete power break today! He has come a long way, and has been with our Grandmaster these past 30 years.

Congratulations to our 4th Dan Black Belts: Mr. John Joyce, Alexis Durrance, and Mason Shutt. Each of our Masters receives a Sword from the Grandmaster to them, signifying their upholding of protecting their family, country, and honor.

Congratulations to Mr. Franck Chantayan, Mr. John Kirby, and Garen Kalender on receiving a special award signed up the President of the Kukkiwon Federation. The award reads “in recognition of your outstanding contribution to the development and dissemination of Taekwondo.” These three gentlemen have spent the most amount of time in class helping out our students along with Master Maria Zavalakos. They are always at events, competitions, and testings to assist and hold for our students. Overall, they have shown incredible dedication this year. We hope they continue to support us in 2015 as they did this year.

We had a group picture taken, first with our Black Belts, then afterwards our families! Afterall, they are our student’s greatest supporters!

Mrs. Chung had decked out food after testings, so she was not about to miss this event!

We had a great day honoring those around us and we like to remind everyone of our last event! This Monday is our Holiday Party and International Food Festival at 6pm! We hope to see you there, parents please visit Mrs. Chung with details on Santa! Enjoy your weekend!

Belt Presentation and Black Belt Tea Ceremony Today!

Saturday, December 20th, 2014

Hello Everyone! We will be having our Belt presentation today at 4pm! Please come dressed in uniform to receive your belt. We will be giving certificates out on January 5, 2015 (Monday) because of the closeness of dates.

We will be preparing for our Black Belt Tea Ceremony after the Belt Presentation. The rehearsal starts at 5:30pm. This annual tradition is a sacred exchange of loyalty and bond between the Black Belts, their families, their Grandmaster, and the school. It is a promise to themselves to be honorable in their beliefs and not to use what they have learned against another with ill intention. The will retain the honor of themselves and their school and enter into this rite of passage. It is also a showing of gratitude to all those who have support them thus far. The exchanging of tea signifies the trust and loyalty given; the shedding of the past uniform into a newer one the remembrance of what was and maturing from it.We welcome our Black Belts to take part in this event.

We would also like to remind everyone that we will be having our International Food Festival and Holiday Party on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 6pm. Come join us and share in the joy of food, fun, and a visit from the North Pole!

We will be presenting our Belts tomorrow at 4pm. As a reminder, we will be distributing our certification in class in 2015 since the dates are so close together.
